2019 ExploreVizComm Poster Competition
This is my winning submission for the ExploreVizComm competition that is held for colleges in Alaska, Hawaii, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Utah, and my home state Idaho! The rules were to create a poster based around a creative copy set that inspires businesses to support educational outreach in the print and graphics industry. The copy "Discover The World of Print" really spoke to me, and I knew there were so many avenues of design I could go down. I decided on a design that was inspired by my favorite childhood film: The Road to El Dorado. I wanted the viewer to feel as if they've just stumbled across what appears to be something from an ancient civilization deep in a beautiful jungle paradise... much like the characters do in The Road to El Dorado. I did not hold back when it came to colors, because with print the colors are endless!
The Pacific Northwest Inlander Summer Camps
Cover Contest
The Art Director from The Inlander (which is a newspaper that circulates through the PNW, for those of you who are unfamiliar with it) approached my graphic design class with the contest to create the 2019 Summer Camps cover. I love everything about the outdoors (aside from all the bugs) and was so excited to work on this. My design centered around what summer is to me, and what I feel a lot of summer camps have: beautiful scenery, tents, lakes, and kayaking. I had so much fun working on this that I designed this within a night, and left the rest of my time to fix any minor details.
2019 Spokane Fall Folk Festival
Poster and Merchandise Contest
This competition included several other colleges, and we were tasked with designing pieces for the Fall Folk Festival that takes place in Spokane. With the festival there is a lot of music and dancing, and the festivities last from day 'til night. I wanted to do something a little different with my design, and instead of drawing people I decided to do woodland animals (since we are from the PNW afterall). I wanted to capture dancing, celebrating, music, and the transition from day to night all within this poster, and I'm so happy with how it turned out. Since the festival takes place in the fall I made sure to incorporate the season into my color palette.

SIDE NOTE: The white bar on the bottom of the poster was space for the organization to put the logos of their sponsors.

Studio Ghibli's Princess Mononoke Movie Poster
This is my favorite animated film, and I loved having the chance to design a poster for it. This movie has many powerful elements, one being good versus evil; I used that as the basis to my design as I included the protagonists and antagonists, all the while fire and destruction are wreaking havoc in the background. 10 out of 10, would recommend watching this film!
iPod touch Package Redesign
One of my favorite class assignments was redesigning a package for an already-existing product. I immediately knew I wanted to do something futuristic, and I thought: who better to pair "futuristic" with than Apple? Since Apple is known for clean, simplistic, monochromatic design, I wanted to something that was completely different. I used any and all colors that I wanted, and stayed fairly simplistic when it came to detailing.

FUN FACT: This design won a silver Addy at the 2019 American Advertising Awards in Spokane, Wa.

Inspired Digital Painting
This piece was inspired by the quote: "You can rise up from anything. You can completely recreate yourself. Nothing is permanent. You're not stuck. You have choices. You can think new thoughts. You can learn something new. You can create new habits. All that matters is that you decide today and never look back."
In this painting the woman is reforging herself from the flames that represent everything that has happened to her in her life. I painted in hues of blue and silver in order to match that flames, to show that the she's embracing everything she has gone through and allowing it to shape her into a brand new individual.
Digital Fruit Painting
This was my first ever digital painting, and I tried to replicate an actual pear as best as I could. I shocked myself with the result! It was a ton of fun and I was very pleased with the end product.
Preflight 2019 Poster
For this project I played with both graphic and typographic styles. One poster I focused only typography, playing with dimension by stacking layers beneath the word "Preflight", and using contrasting colors. For my other poster I keep the word "flight" in mind, and decided on the idea of a designer quite literally shooting for the stars.
Personal Photography and Video Logo
I've always had a passion for photography, and within the past year I've been diving into film, and my goal is to launch my own photography and videography business within the next year or so. My business is going to need a logo, so I designed one incorporating several of my favorite design elements: the color blue, florals, and contrast.
Event Marketing: Luminescence Neon Festival
I created a fictional event (one I wish existed) in order to create this poster. I had tons of fun playing with neon effects, and experimenting with a warm/hot color palette. Since there was a bit of copy to include, I wanted to keep the feature design simple. Featured are the event poster and mailer.
Monogram
When creating this monogram of my name, I wanted to make sure it resembled a part of who I am. I love long days at the beach; playing volleyball and listening to the waves crash, smelling the ocean breeze, watching the sun set... And so, I decided to transform my initials into waves!
Poster for Favorite Typeface: Futura
In my first year of being a graphic design student, I got to know this typeface and fell in love with it. Since the typeface is associated with the Apollo 11 launch, I decided to base my whole design off of the historical moment.
Escape Outdoor Adventure Festival Logo
For this logo I fell into the badge trend, mostly because I have never done a badge logo. The most fun part about this design was that I had to use the client's favorite Pantone color (693), which is a nice dusty, pink shade.
99Designs Logo Challenge
My entry for the challenge to design a logo for a new coffee shop in Tokyo, featuring modern, monochromatic vibes. Most coffee shops include mugs, coffee beans... you get the idea. I wanted to break away from the stereotypical coffee shop logos, and having been a barista myself, one of the most important tools you use is a tamp to press down the coffee grounds. And with the company name being "Pound", I wanted to incorporate action within the logo, as if the hand is actually pressing the coffee grounds.
Logo Design for Uptown Bagel Co.
Class competition to design a logo for a new business opening in Sandpoint, ID. The client wanted to blend together the 80's and retro design, while incorporating some elements of the town of Sandpoint, such as the iconic mill and beautiful mountain backdrop.
Packaging Design for Own Product
For a class assignment I was tasked with creating a product and branding from scratch. I love bottled tea, and so I decided to make my own tea brand. I am all about natural, good-for-you products, and I knew that that was what I wanted my product to be, so it was important to make sure my design spoke organic and from-the-earth. Rather than settling on one flavor, I decided to make a seasonal line, one flavor for each season. I used the trees as a graphic element to show the viewer what season the tea flavor belongs to.
Messages That Matter Book Cover
A communications professor at North Idaho College looked to the Graphic Design program to design a new cover for his book. I took it back to my childhood days of playing with cups and strings and trying to pass along secret messages, and made that the basis of my design. I kept the graphic elements simple as to not conflict with the book title and publisher logo.
Halsey Graphic Art Piece
Halsey is my favorite singer/songwriter, and I wanted to design a piece using only three colors.
Graphic Art Piece for a Friend
It was my friend's birthday, so I decided to make her a graphic piece.
Welcome Card Mock-up for
New NIC Graphic Design Students
I had an idea to design a welcome card for new graphic design students, and so I just went for it.
Thank You Card
After a visit from The Woodshop, I felt inspired to design a "thank you" card for them. It was towards the end of summer, and the fleeting warm weather inspired me with incorporate summery elements within the piece. I also decided to take a hit at writing out the letters rather than using a typeface.
